Now, with its Twin Peaks for All project, SFMTA is considering a variety of configurations to the Twin Peaks roads – some of which would greatly expand the amount of permanent car-free space.
With this safe space to socially distance and stay active, roughly 1,000 people have walked, jogged, and biked Twin Peaks every day since.
This included Twin Peaks Boulevard and Burnett Avenue as they lead up to Twin Peaks in order to reduce crowding at the parking lot.
As San Franciscans began to shelter in place, the City made all of Twin Peaks car-free.
This spring, Walk SF, our members, and our partners like the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition finally won permanent car-free space on the east side of Twin Peaks Boulevard (half of the figure eight).īut that could just be the start of expanding space for people walking and biking on Twin Peaks.
